Girl Talk Thursday: How do you save time?

Girl Talk Thursday

I sat down and thought really, really hard about this. Looking for some sage little tidbits I could share on how I manage to live so damn efficiently. Everyone's always asking me how I do it all. I hate to brag and everything, but I've really got my shit together and I am such a sharing person, that I really wanted to help out all of you.

Your life really can be as carefree and awesome as mine. All you need to do is follow two very simple steps:

1.) Put things off until the last possible moment, and;

2.) Only do shit that you find to be worthy of your time.

I swear by these two hard and fast rules. The beauty is in the simplicity. Now it will take most of you some extra dedication and commitment, but with a little practice, you too can be a deft as I am at juggling all that life throws at you, all while finding quality YOU time.

We'll start with a basic example:

Taxes: I haven't done them yet... so I've saved tons of valuable time, not to mention neck pain.

See? That was easy wasn't it?

Now, let me show you how I use multi-tasking to save time:

Ironing: I usually wait until 5 seconds before wearing something, but if I'm really pressed (<-- hahaha) for time, I just toss it in the dryer on wrinkle release while I rush to pack my 3 year old's bag for daycare that I didn't do the night before because... Glee was on and Twitter seemed like more fun.

Win, win, win! I got everything done and had fun too!

OK, on to some really advanced moves... Once you get really good at the multi-tasking I so brilliantly illustrated just now, your time saving skills will become more refined. You'll be so relaxed and graceful, people will start to sit up and take notice!

I seem to just have this natural ability to save precious moments. In this example, pay close attention to the details and you'll see how I manage to plan ahead. Let's say, I realize I need to shave my legs. I'd instantly think, nope I don't have time, because I'm probably in a really big hurry due to something like needing to put the laundry away that I put off doing on the weekend because I had to catch up on paying bills that I was supposed to do on Friday but didn't because HOLY SHIT BALLS I really needed to get that thing done for work.

But I don't sweat it. No, I can easily shave my legs later that night after I put my daughter to bed.

Ah, bed time! Right before me time... a couple stories and then a glass of red.

Shit. I just remembered I didn't take the library books back today that needed to go back yesterday.

This could blemish my reputation.

I'd go back and edit out the library book thing to save face, but that will take up too much of my valuable time.

Just pretend I'm perfect ok? I do. Works great!

Those are my two rules too, but unfortunately I don't seem to function as gracefully lol which may be why my husband thinks I'm a slacker. 'Eh what's a girl to do?

I'm with ya, girl. It's too bad everyone can procrastinate as efficiently as we do. ;)

I didn't do my taxes for over FIVE YEARS. Then I got married and my hubby dealt with the IRS, even paying my fines, etc. WIN, WIN and WIN!

And congrats on going to BlogHer! I went alone last year, knowing absolutely no one and I'm fairly agoraphobic. This year I'm taking my support staff - daughter and husband - but I'm still going. Hope to see you there!
